The Village of Stockbridge, Wisconsin, lies comfortably in Calumet County in the east-central portion of the state known to many as the Fox Valley. The population of Stockbridge was 649 at the 2000 census. Together with the surrounding community that shares its name, the Village of Stockbridge, Wisconsin is centrally located between two larger cities, Appleton and Fond du Lac, making it an ideal place for those businesses that serve the larger metropolitan cities.

Both the town and village of Stockbridge were named after an American Indian tribe that had migrated to this general locale from Stockbridge, New York in the 1830's. During the American Revolution some sixty years earlier, the Stockbridge tribe had fought with the American colonists and were rewarded with a portion of western land in the new Wisconsin Territory, to be held jointly with the native groups already in the area.

Once considered merely a sleepy fishing village (Stockbridge lays claim to the crown as "The Sturgeon Capital of the World"), Stockbridge has lately begun showing signs of becoming an increasingly popular tourist destination. The village is nestled between the beautiful Lake Winnebago and the Niagara Escarpment, a magnificently scenic natural rock formation which stretches up the Door County Peninsula to the east of Winnebago County, across Canada and to the Niagara Falls.

Calumet County Park, which encompasses the Niagara Escarpment, is located approximately four miles northwest of Stockbridge, along the east shore of Lake Winnebago. Local residents and their guests can camp at the park in the summer, walk trails in the summer, and downhill ski in the winter. The park also contains a post-Civil War brickyard of historical significance to the area. There are several native American effigy mounds in the upper campground portion of the park. Calumet County Park is on the List of Registered Historic Places in Wisconsin, as are both the Stockbridge Harbor and Stockbridge Indian Cemetery.
